What are common medical problems WorkSTEPS identifies that require further intervention?

Larry Feeler

Well, probably one of the most common is about 3% of our applicants have high blood pressure. So we do have some discretionary measures like that where you have to be under a certain threshold even to take the test for your own safety. So somebody like that would be sent to a physician of their choice and get their blood pressure under control before they come back in. Other issues, or if people have been in a motor vehicle accident, they're being treated by someone and they haven't been released, they're still under a doctor's care for some condition. They're on some kind of medication that might put them at risk to do the essential functions of their job. All those kinds of things, we actually have a process in place for each problem to address those before they continue with the important process.
