Overview
ErgoSteps
provides companies with a state-of-the-art ergonomic program that eliminates
the need for complex and costly retooling.
The
system identifies levels of ergonomic risks for all locations, departments, and
individuals within the workforce and provides the materials and tools necessary
to:
·
train
employees,
·
identify
risks, and
·
create
report documents.
All
three tasks are automated and accomplished simultaneously.
Ergonomic
training for employees, identifies and quantifies workplace risks, and creates
documentation showing compliance.
Having
the means to identify risk means having the ability to reduce risk! That helps
insure healthy employees and a healthy bottom-line
What is ergonomics
Everyone
has heard of ergonomics - after all, the word is widely used in advertisements
for cars, kitchens, computers and many other everyday objects. But to think of
ergonomics simply as a way of designing things to make them more comfortable
misses the point - there is much more.
So
what exactly is ergonomics? The word itself is a little intimidating, but
behind it lies a very simple idea.
Ergonomics
is about "fit": the fit between people, the things they do, the
objects they use and the environments in which they work, travel and play. If
good fit is achieved, the stresses on people are reduced. They are more
comfortable, they can do things more quickly and easily, and they make fewer
mistakes.
So
when we talk about "fit", we don't just mean physical fit. We are
also concerned with psychological fit and other aspects as well. That is why
ergonomics is often called "Human Factors".
Goals
Most
people have heard of ergonomics and think it has something to do with seating
or with the design of car controls and instruments. It is. But it is much more!
Ergonomics is the application of scientific information concerning humans to
the design of objects, systems and environment for human use. Ergonomics comes
into everything which involves people. Work systems, sports and leisure, Health
and Safety should all embody ergonomic principles if well designed.
The
goal of ErgoSteps is to design jobs to fit people. This means taking into
account differences such as size, strength and ability to handle information
for a wide range of users. Then the tasks, the workplace and tools are designed
around these differences. The benefits are improved efficiency, quality and job
satisfaction. The costs of failure include increased error rates and physical
fatigue - or worse.
OSHA Compliance
The ErgoSteps Job Evaluation
Suite Complies With OSHA Regulations Voluntary Programs:
·
Provides
basic ergonomic training to all employees and more detailed training on an
as-needed basis.

a participatory process in which employees complete a personal evaluation of
their work environment.
·
Produces
reports that track the effects of corrective actions and preventatives
measures.
·
Creates
the documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance with the features listed
above.
·
Determines
risk and allows rapid evaluation and control.
Training
Having The Skills To
Identify Risks Means Having The Ability To Reduce Risks:
INCREASES SKILL:
The
training offers "common sense" tools taken from the science of
ergonomics to help people understand and improve their own work environment and
work practices.
IMPROVES COMMUNICATIONS:
The
training process provides employees with the skills to become a vital and
active participant in reducing risks.
SAVES TIME AND MONEY:
Distributing
the training over the web saves time and money. The training can occur
any-where there is a computer and at anytime convenient to the individual.
