Joseph A. Kleinkort, M.A., Ph.D., P.T., C.I.E., CEAS, DAAPM

Biography

Joseph A. Kleinkort, M.A., Ph.D., P.T., C.I.E., CEAS., DAAPM, obtained a Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University in 1968, and a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University in 1977.  He is also a 1980 graduate of USAF Air Command and Staff College.  He received a Ph.D. (H.C.) from Medicina Alternative, Copenhagen, Denmark in 1984.  He received a Doctor of Philosophy in Safety Management from Western States University in 1998. Certified Industrial Ergonomist #21821 (C.I.E.), Oxford Research Institute, 2001. WSO Liaison Officer to the United Nations. Former Faculty, National Judicial College, University of Nevada, Reno addressing administrative Law Judges on Pain Disability. Diplomate American Academy of Pain Management.

 

Dr. Kleinkort frequently speaks at seminars and conferences throughout the world on industrial pain management and early return to work. He is an expert in injury management, industrial ergonomic intervention and case closure. Recently, he was nominated to serve on the Ergonomic Board for OSHA.

 

Dr. Kleinkort was a founding member of the American College of Orthopedic Medicine, and was on their executive council and faculty.  He is a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the American Academy of Pain Management, and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  Other medical and professional organizations to which he belongs include the American Physical Therapy Association, Texas Physical Therapy Association, and the Horizon Rotary Club (Founding Member). 

 

He is the author of two chapters in textbooks, the first entitled, Therapeutic Medical Devices, and the second Thermal Agents in Rehabilitation, The Application and Use of Lasers / Microcurrents.  He contributed to the text Complimentary and Alternative Medicine Research Based Approach edited by  Freeman in 2004. He is also the author of multiple articles in many professional journals.  He is currently a book reviewer for the Journal of the American Physical Therapy Association. 

 

Dr. Kleinkort has received numerous awards including: Who’s Who in the World, 1994 – Present; Who’s Who in Medicine, 1995 – Present; Who’s Who in America, 1992 – Present; International Man of the Year, 1994 from International Biographical Center, Cambridge, England; Who’s Who of Optical Science Engineers, 1985 – 1990; Ruby Decker Award, Outstanding Physical Therapist of Texas, 1985; St. Louis University, Alumni Merit Award, 1983; Who’s Who in the East, 1978, 1979-1980; Jaycees 10 Most Outstanding Young Men in U.S., nominee, 1974-1976; Three Meritorious Service Medals, 1974, 1976, and 1978; First Place Scientific Award, American Physical Therapy Association, 1972; Air Force Commendation Medal, 1972.

 

He is a Senior Consultant for Lockheed Martin Corporation of Fort Worth in Industrial Rehabilitation.  Executive Vice President for WorkSTEPS, Inc., President of the ErgoSTEPS Division of WorkSTEPS, Inc., and President of Joseph A. Kleinkort, P.C. He is also the Ergonomic Consultant for OneComp Health Systems. Dr. Kleinkort was recently invited to sit on the Corporate Advisors Panel for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in June 2004.  He is also an ordained minister for the Messengers of Messiah.  Dr. Kleinkort is a past Chairman, Republican Party, PCT 318, Texas; President, S.I.G. (Chronic Pain) of the Orthopedics Section of the APTA; Editorial Advisory Board of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice Journal, Orthopaedics Section of the APTA.  Revenue Generation Task Force, Orthopaedic Section, APTA.
