Number of obese employees lower in healthy workplaces

A study conducted by the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota established how a healthy workplace is associated with a fewer number of obese employees, according to a Reuters report.

The research, which involved a survey of 1,538 people with an average age of 25, found that only 17% of young employees are obese in workplaces that promoted healthy lifestyle practices. This is way lower than the 24% in workplaces with only one healthy factor or none at all. Workplaces that recorded a fewer number of obese workers were those that promoted yoga classes during breaks, fostered support for colleagues, and encouraged availability of healthy foods.
